Welcome to the home of Peter Kraiker Photography.
Born and still living in Canada, Peter grew up around cameras... and in fact he is Canadian because of them. When Ernst Leitz gmbh decided to open a new factory to build their world famous Leica cameras, Peter's father Karl (and his wife Marie) came over from Germany to help set it up. Peter was their second child, and the first Canadian born Kraiker. At an early age, Peter started working in a photo store/studio (Rolfoto) where he began to hone his skills behind the camera as well as in the darkroom. After spending a summer as the staff photographer at the Chateau Lake Louise, Peter attended Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (Now Ryerson University) for Photographic Arts. After working in a number of studios and photolabs, Peter changed careers in the early '80s with the birth of his son. While photography was on the back-burner, cycling remained an active passion. During the 90's Peter was an active member of the Toronto City Cycling Committee and also operated the One Less Car electronic bulletin board.
In recent years Peter had rekindled his love of photography, and while he continued to stick with film (and the joys of working in a darkroom) for a number of years he finally went digital in 2003.
